Dataset conditional formatting - default colour ranges

Applies to v4.5 and later.

Measure columns can be formatted according to their value. Creating default colour ranges (conditional formats) for a measure column allows you to quickly highlight values in a grid meeting certain criteria. The default formats created at dataset level will be applied to grid components automatically when they are created. This saves having to enter conditional formatting multiple times over at component level.

Note: Time spent here creating default formats for values at dataset level will save lots of time and effort later when creating components.

To apply a colour range on a dataset column:

  1. Edit (or create) an existing dataset using Main Menu -> Dataset Builder -> Edit DatasetDatasetMenuEdit
  2. Open the Column Property dialogue box by clicking on a dataset column header and select the Colour Range header.

  3. Multiple formats can be created for each column. To add a new format, click on the Add Format sc81 Icon.

Now enter a minimum and maximum range and the formatting to apply eg. Display values in the range 0-25 in black text on a green background.
You can also specify if the text is to be bold and/or italic and indicate whether the whole row or just the individual grid cell should be formatted.
  4. Add additional formats using the Add Format dash52-1 Icon.
  5. Save each format entered using the tick dash42-1 Icon.
  6. Edit a format using the Edit dash50 Icon
  7. Delete a format using the Delete dash51 Icon
  8. Save  Column Properties using the Save Button and save sc62 the dataset.
