Understanding the Export Process
Exporting Dashboards and Components
Exporting dashboards and datafeeds is achieved via the 'Server Tool' which normally resides independently on the Dashboard Server Desktop.
Exporting works on two assumptions. Either the user will know which dashboard(s) they would like to export or they know what data they want. Either way the import/export tool has both of these covered in the Simple/Advanced export options.
Simple export:
Allows users to select dashboards and components they wish to export. With the tool selecting the relevant datasets, datafeeds and connections associated with these dashboards – ready for export.
Advanced export:
Allows the user to select datafeeds and datasets to export. This method works in reverse to the simple export as it works up the tree selecting all components and dashboards associated with the datafeeds / datasets selected for exporting.
