Understanding the Import Process

Importing Datafeeds and Dashboards

When importing a dashboard or its components, it’s easier if the recipient user and group are already set up within the dashboard. All imported entities will be published to the selected group, with ownership assigned to the selected user.

To import dashboards and datafeeds:

1   Log onto the server or laptop hosting the dashboard software and run the Intuitive Dashboards Server Tool.

2   Locate a previously created export file containing dashboard and datafeed definitions. It will be a .xml file.

3   Select Import from the tab strip

4   Select Browse and select the required .xml. Once selected a summary of the dashboards etc in the file will be displayed. Once you have verified you have the right file select Next.

5   From the list on the right select the username you wish to associate with the imported information. The list displays both the first name and surname created with an account, and as such won't display the username used to login into the dashboard. It is also possible to make these entities editable by other users by selecting the tick box.

6   Select from the list on the right hand side which group you would like the imported dashboards and assets to be associated with. For this reason we recommended at the beginning to have the user and group already created. Once Done Select Next

7   You can now “Prepend Text,” meaning applying additional naming to the beginning of each dashboard, component, dataset, feed and connection currently displayed on the right hand side.

You also have the opportunity to find and replace any entities with a new name, for example changing “Finance” to “Finance Summary”. If you don’t want to prepend text or use the find and replace then just select Next.

8   Select Import to finish the process. Once done you will receive a notification to restart your dashboard service.
