Error writing version information

During an installation of Intuitive Dashboards on a server you may encounter "Error writing version information". The article details a solution.

During the installation process, the application needs to make a record of your software licence in the database.  This process uses the encryption features of .NET

Sometimes there is a group policy setting which prevents this encryption from working.


 To adjust the group policy setting follow the steps below:-

  1. In the Local Group Policy Editor, under the Computer Configuration node, double-click Windows Settings, and then double-click Security Settings.
  2. Under the Security Settings node, double-click Local Policies, and then click Security Options.
  3. In the details panel, double-click System cryptography: Use FIPS-compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing.
  4. Set to Disabled as shown below
