FAQ
Running the dashboard service as a network user
By default, the dashboard service runs as an NT service on its host machine (i.e. it has no network identity separate to that of the machine).
Some IT departments may prefer to run the dashboard service as a network user, allowing network resources to be allocated to that user and, if required, more stringent security lockdown. This also allows Windows authentication to be used to connect to a remote SQL Server source through ODBC.
To change the account, firstly open Services, right click on "Intuitive Dashboard Service" and go to Properties, then in the "Log On" tab, enter your chosen credential in the field below and apply the changes.
When running in this configuration, it is necessary to allocate permissions within the SQL Server
instance to grant db_owner permission to the chosen network account under which the dashboard service runs. For more advice contact your SQL Server administrator.
