FAQ
Saving and closing a dashboard
In order for recent work within the dashboard builder to be preserved, it is necessary to periodically save the dashboard.
Design Tip #1 - This action only applies to the dashboard currently being created or edited.
To save and close a dashboard
1 Select the Save icon:
2 Enter a File Name for the new dashboard. This name should be descriptive to make it easy to identify.
Note: It is advisable to have a strong naming convention for dashboards as they are shown alphabetically in selection screen and the easy search facility allows for a word search of the dashboard name i.e. Show me all 'Sales' dashboards.
3 Add a Description if required. This description will be available to users when they open the dashboard and through the [Options]>[Data Description] menu item.
4 If you want to publish the dashboard immediately after saving you can do so by selecting the tick box.
5 To finalise the process click the Save button.
6 Select the X to close a dashboard builder.
From the tab strip simply close the dashboard by clicking on the white cross.
Alternatively dashboards can be left open allowing the designer to return and make further edits later.
Note: Remember to Save dashboards regularly because changes may be lost if you close the browser window down or log-out.
