Migrating and Cloning dashboards

Dashboards and supporting datasets etc. can be migrated from one dashboard server instance to another. This is achieved by running the export process against the source instance, copying the resulting xml file to the target instance and running the import process on that instance.

Dashboards and supporting datasets can also be copied (cloned) within a single instance of Intuitive Dashboards. The result of this process is that a second, new copy (clone) of each entity (connections/datafeeds/datasets/components/dashboards) is created.

The Intuitive Dashboards Server Tool comes with software versions 2.4 and higher. The tool allows dashboards to be exported or imported from either a server or local machine to a new destination.

Cloning is achieved by running the export process against the dashboard instance, writing the resulting xml file, then and running the import process against the same xml file into the same dashboard instance. The entities can be renamed during the cloning process and will be written to the dashboard metadata with new identifiers.

The export/import process allows for you to migrate or clone dashboards as long as the software version is 2.3 or higher at both the source system and destination system.

The server tool also has features such as “show Mac addresses” to help identify the product when issuing license keys.
