Creating a chart component

Chart components are created using a variation on the steps described in Creating components.

To create a chart component:

1   Before creating a component, ensure that a dataset has been created by the System Designer or Administrator and published to you.

2   Create a new component which will open the Component Builder.

3   Select a dataset which will form the source data the component is based on.

4   Select the component type. For all components the default is Chart so this step can be skipped.

5   Select dataset columns for the component. Drag-and-drop the dataset columns to the chart area. A Chart component consists of one blue attribute column that maps to the X-Axis on the chart, one or more red measure columns (Y-Series) and up to one green pivot column (Y-Series).

Note: Selecting a different attribute overwrites the previous one.

6   Add filters dash47 to the component to limit the specific data shown on the chart.

It is also possible to Define chart display options.

8    Component backgrounds (Light/Dark) can not be set for individual components. The component background colour is set when creating a new dashboard or editing a dashboard and will appy to all components on a dashboard.

9   Resize a component to best display the information. This can be resized on a dashboard.

10    Add component drilldowns, if required.

11    Define a title for the chart component.

12    Save the chart component.

13    Publish and close the chart component to allow others to view and use the component you have just created.
